Youper

Description

On the website, Youper claims that it can help you feel less anxious, less stressed, and less blue. In terms of improvement, the app boasts it can make you more confident, focused, creative, balanced, optimistic, productive, and positive. Lastly, it claims to help you feel overall happier.

Overview

Youper isn’t just an app created with hopeful intentions, it also has clinical support. The creators of Youper use research methods across every U.S. state to determine factors that influence behaviors and ultimately become happier. They even implement artificial intelligence (AI) to assist in achieving happiness.

Backed by Science

If you’re skeptical about how well Youper actually works, they provide extensive data to ease your concerns. They claim the average length of a conversation with Youper to make a positive change is only 7 minutes. This is instant results at its best. Furthermore they have data that indicates using the app only once a week reduces symptoms of depression and anxiety.

How to Become Happier

Youper employs an original method of using an ‘Emotional Health Atlas’ to discover the most common emotions in different states across the U.S. You can search the atlas by emotions (ie. happiness), gender, job status, and timeframe (i.e. last 60 days).

Assessments

Multiple assessments are also utilized to determine emotional influences. The Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) measures depressive symptoms, while the Generalized Anxiety Disorder scale (GAD-7) assesses how frequently anxious thoughts occur and the severity of these thoughts. Youper also uses the Social Phobia Inventory (SPIN) to assess the extent of social anxiety symptoms.
