Daylio - Diary, Journal, Mood Tracker: App Review

Description

You probably didn’t think it was possible to keep a diary without writing or typing? Until the release of the Daylio app it wasn’t. Now, through Daylio, you can select videos that match your mood or feeling. You can even record your moods in your personal calendar to follow and review, or even share with friends.

Overview

The judges have spoken and Daylio is a winner for depression coping apps. It was Google Editors’ Pick of 2018 and featured on Forbes’ Tech Hacks That Help you Beat Holiday Stress. Daylio is a diary, journal, and mood tracker, all rolled into one, that allows you to identify and record your feelings on any day without typing a single word. Daylio offers videos that portray a given mood for you to choose from that reflects your own. You can also pick your mood and activities, and add notes like an old-school journal, if you’d like. Lastly, the ‘Statistics and Calendar’ feature lets you log your moods so you can reference them to notice patterns in your behaviors and feelings.

Choose a Video for Your Mood

If you’re not quite the wordsmith then Daylio is the perfect option for you to visually select how you feel. One of the ways to accomplish this is through videos categorized by certain moods. You choose the videos that best resemble how you’re feeling and use them as tools for battling your depression.

Choose your Moods and Daily Activities

Aside from selecting videos to portray your feelings, Daylio allows you to select specific moods and activities you have may engaged in over the course of a day to express how you are feeling. While it is by no means necessary, you can even type in notes like a regular journal if you feel you have something more personal to add.

Statistics and Calendar

Looking back on how you felt days, weeks, or even months ago can be helpful in managing your depression by recognizing specific patterns. This is now doable through Daylio’s ‘Statistics and Calendar’ feature, where you log your moods on specific days and can go back and reference them later on.
